Headingley Methodist Church has a small but dedicated choir. For most Sunday services the choir sings an introit and sometimes also an anthem and, of course, the choir leads the congregation in the singing of hynms. The choir’s repertoire is extensive, covering sacred music ranging from Tudor times (Tallis, Byrd etc.) to the present day (Alan Bullard, Bob Chilcott, Philip Wilby and others).

The choir usually rehearses on a Friday evening at 6.30 in the Parlour. Rehearsals last about an hour and are frequently very light-hearted affairs with plenty of laughter – often at the expense of the choirmaster! We also try to meet up as near to 9 on a Sunday morning as possible to have a quick run-through before the service.
